For the third year in a row, Community Builders of Kansas City hosted a Special Community Thanksgiving Giveaway event which was co-chaired by Jackson County Executive Frank White and wife, Teresa this year. Local unions happily joined in, acting as much of the muscle for the event that saw hundreds of families fed. The event was held on Saturday, November 13th from 10AM until supplies ran out. Event community partners included: Friendship Swope Health, Blue Parkway Sun Fresh Market, Harvesters, Happy Bottoms, Kansas City Public Library, Catholic Charities, the Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council, and the Greater Kansas City AFL-CIO. Turkeys, food ranging from fruit to cheese to coffee, diapers, books, and COVID-19 shots were given away to anyone in need. Union leaders and rank-and-file members loaded cars for hours to make sure that people walked away with what they needed.
