The Pipefitters Local 533, under the leadership of Scott Grandon as their Business Manager, have been donating to the Miracle Day of Hope Radiothon for six years. Children’s Miracle Network began broadcasting their Radiothon on the Cumulus stations in 2015 and the Pipefitters got involved right from the start!

Because of the involvement of the Pipefitters Local 533 in the Radiothon each year, the annual Union Miracle Bowl was started, which has led to the contributions and involvement from many other unions. Most recently, in 2020 (even though the event couldn’t happen because of the COVID shutdowns across the country), Children’s Miracle Network received contributions from not only the Pipefitters Local 533, but also Roofers #20, Ironworkers Local #10, Greater Kansas City Building Trades Council, Sheet Metal Workers Local #2, Laborers Local #264, Plumbers Local #8, Heat & Frost Insulators Local #27, Painters Districts Council #3, AFL-CIO, Laborers Local #1290, Elevator Constructors #12, IBEW Local 124, and Boilermakers Local 83. The unions and their members have been very generous and have become very involved with Children’s Miracle Network over the past five years.

“I would like to express our thanks to the Pipefitters and their members and all of the unions who have rallied behind Children’s Miracle Network and the families we serve. I would also like to extend a special thank you to Scott Grandon. It is because of him that many of the unions are involved with CMN and we couldn’t be more grateful. The funds that are donated to CMN directly impact the lives of kids right here in Kansas City and there truly is nothing better than knowing that you have helped impact the life of a child. We can’t thank you enough.” said Jill Garrard, Executive Director for Children’s Miracle Network at KU Medical Center.
